Marley & Me.
Saturday, March 14th, 2009

I went to see the film Marley & Me last night and though I read the book nothing quite prepared me for the sadness, I was still weeping as we walked out, thankfully I wasn’t the only one-there was a young boy being cradled by his mother as he sobbed on to her shoulder. You have be warned.

It did make me even more excited about my new arrival, I feel like an expectant mother. I haven’t been this excited about anything for a really long time. I imagine this is how children feel on Christmas eve. I am posting a picture of a gorgeous dog and also a picture of a card I was sent this week from a couple who’s wedding I photographed last summer. It’s lovely to hear how clients are enjoying married life and also to see the wonderful ways they use the images. Thank you Damian and Josee.

Home sweet home
Sunday, March 1st, 2009

What a gorgeous day! I went running this afternoon, the first time in a week and the first 20 minutes felt effortless-all my stored up energy and hotel breakfasts made it feel almost easy. Cut forward 20 minutes and I was struggling against the wind with a stitch, the sun was in my eyes and I was cursing the warm weather. And yet I will go again tomorrow and the day after that.

While I was away I did an intensive journalism course, I love learning and putting myself in new situations, meeting new people and writing. After 3 long days my brain was fried. The best part of the course was at the end when we were passing judgement on each other and what direction we should take in our writing lives. Both my tutor and classmates told me I should be writing my book- apparently I am ethereal and sensitive and the woman’s magazines and papers would knock that out of me. Sensitive… Moi?! I must have mentioned my love of Alaska, and how much I wrote while I was there because one woman said ‘move to Alaska and finish your book’. I did move, in my head. I came back after 10 minutes-something about wedding season starting next month.

It’s the start of a new month today, this week it’s my birthday and I am moving. My friends are coming up from London to share the weekend with me. I am one giddy kipper. This wee man needed a break while I was photographing him. Its’ a hard life being a baby. Nx

Just to let you know I am away now until the weekend so may not be able to respond to e-mails as quickly as I usually do. I just packed 3 packs of yoghurt coated raisins-I fear this may not be enough! And as of tomorrow I am giving up chocolate for lent-I am wondering if hot chocolate counts?! Please say no. More pictures from this shoot upon my return

It’s been a while since I have blogged-I will catch up properly soon-but thank you to those of you who e-mailed and questioned my disappearance-very sweet. My recent clients know I am still very much alive and well just busy busy.

Thank you Charlotte for a great shoot.

I love January!
Sunday, January 18th, 2009

This is the first January I have been in this country for a couple of years and I was a little apprehensive about how it would be, nothing quite beats starting the year in a hot climate. I am pleased to say that I love January. I was planning to go into hibernation and get some home projects done however I haven’t found the time, which I feel a little guilty about, but there has been an influx of bookings for summer 2010, which is brilliant. It is crazy how far in advance the wedding industry works and trying to get my head around my plans for 2010 in January 2009 is a little overwhelming. I have had some great e-mails lately and I love hearing from new people and I am so excited about all the great weddings I am going to be photographing this summer.

Photography aside life is also sweet, I am loving all the new films out at the moment and can’t recommend Slumdog Millionaire enough. I am still running like mad and loving it more and more, I keep expecting to lose the motivation I have for it but after months of months of running this hard I still feel excited about getting out there each day. This summer is going to be crazy busy but I am planning some trips to some nice destinations-after all one of my new years resolutions was to travel to 2 new places!

Thank you to clients past and present for your e-mails. I really do like making connections that last and keeping up to date with how married life is going and hearing wedding plans from upcoming clients.

OOHH while I remember I do a business/entrepreneurship course at York Uni and we are holding a corporate golf day for charity in May at Sandburn Hall. The money raised goes towards supporting a student from the university, hopefully acting as a springboard towards their own enterprising dreams. If there are any people out there who play golf and want to enquire about details send me an e-mail. It should be a great networking day for local businesses.

What can I say?!… there has just been a lot going on lately, more in my personal life than anything else and I haven’t had chance to write. Anyway here are some pictures from a recent shoot-gorgeous location, gorgeous models, and a beautiful dry/bright autumnal day. Enjoy N x
