COOK wanted
Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

I am really struggling to find a chef/cook/baker extraordinaire. I have advertised in every place I can but I thought it was worth mentioning it here. I have a feeling I am not going to find the perfect person through ordinary means.

I want someone who is truly passionate about food. I want someone who thinks pumpkins in the autumn and asparagus in the spring and finds a way to incorporate this into the menu. Experience and passion more important than qualifications. Creative flair a must.

If you think that sounds like you, or someone you know please drop me an email: nicola@hope-photography.co.uk

Days like these.
Sunday, October 18th, 2009

Osmotherly really is my favourite place and autumn really is my favourite time of year and Potter really is the most gorgeous dog and Sian and Ella really are my favourite people and days like today really are my favourite type of day.

I have a lot to share and I have a lot of work to do and blog but I just wanted to share my day. I read this quote the other day and it stuck with me because it articulates better than I could a feeling.

” Give me but one firm spot on which to stand and I will move the earth”

I interpret this quote as saying that once a person has love, and support ‘a firm spot’ then they can achieve anything they dream of. I am so incredibly lucky at the moment to have found a firm spot.

A perfect day at Alnmouth beach.

Personal.
Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

It’s been a long time since I posted anything personal, probably because it’s been a long time (I confess!) since I have taken my camera out for pleasure. Wedding season is now over (phew!) so now I have some time to shoot for pleasure, not to say I don’t enjoy every wedding but it’s very different to photographing my personal life. Sunday was such an amazing blue autumnal day and I had the best day I have had in months and was ridiculously relaxed. We went brambling which of course led to baking a crumble, and then eating the crumble (for both lunch and supper). The only down side was that Potter got stung by a wasp and cost me another vets bill because it turns out she is allergic to wasps. Thankfully she is back to her normal self again this morning. Anyway here are a few shots of my perfect day and my favourite people.

Potter post.
Saturday, May 30th, 2009

Potter is big. Well to me she is, but while at the beach we met a lady with 2 dalmations, which really were big. It is so exciting to see what she will look like when she is fully grown. Anyway she is fully recovered and now sporting a little fat belly as I had to feed her up after she wasn’t allowed food and got so skinny. She seemed to love the beach, it was a lot cooler which helped as I am not sure she is a big fan of this heat we are having. Her ears seem to fall forward, at first it was just one and now they both seem to do it. She looks so perplexed it makes me laugh.

Getting away… The Lake District
Sunday, May 17th, 2009

I love visiting the tea rooms and cafes, and I love driving down the winding roads, and I love eating fish and chips at the edge of Lake Windermere, and I love the scenery, and I love the feeling of space, and I loved watching Potter-a tiny dot against the huge backdrops, and I loved visiting Yew Tree Farm-the place where the film Miss Potter was filmed. I loved eating gingerbread where it originated, and lately everything is so busy and sometimes bigger than me, so I especially loved being somewhere that really was, bigger than me.

Now I must get on, I have a wedding to get to. Nx

Potter post.
Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

Potter is great, I took her to Knaresborough pet day on Sunday which she loved, she got spoilt with attention. I met a woman who used to have a dalmation pup, but gave him away to a man on a farm because he chewed everything. I gulped. Neh mind-she is totally worth it.
